A
volvox is comprised of numerous cells. These cells are called
vegetative cells, and big circular objects found inside a volvox
are called generative cells. Some volvox have more than one
generative cells. These volvox's colors in this sample slide depend on stain's colors.
A texture of a volvox seems to be rough,
because vegetative cells appear as tiny dots spotted on the surface.
Generative Cell
Generative cells appear inside of the volvox. These cells
are darker than the color of the surface, so they are
distinct. Some volvox don't have generative cell, but some
are have more than one generative cells.

Here are generative cells inside of
the volvox. In this picture, two cells are not
focus; it indicates that the generative cells'
location is various.
400x
This generative cell appears to be
translucent edge around it.
Vegetative Cell
Vegetative cells consist of the spherical volvox. Because
countless cells are gathered together, the surface of the
volvox appears to be rough. It is like dots appoted on a
paper.

Details of the cells that consist
the volvox are quite clear; even nuclei are visible.
400x
Because the volvox is spherical, it
is pretty hard to focus the surface of the volvox.
Each cells contain nucleus, and these nuclei appears
to be tiny dots.
Interesting Volvox
There are some volvox that doesn't seem to be similar to
others. One volvox is not circular and its generative cells
is amorphous. Another volvox's surface is similar to a bee
hive's one.

This volvox's shape is not certain;
also its generative cell doesn't appear to be
circular.

The surface of this volvox seems
similar to a surface of bee hive.
