This
meristem piece is comprised of
countless plant cells. Some cells are at the middle of dividing and
growing. These cells are similar to the ones that shown in
Mitosis-Onion Root Tip
sample.
Surface of Meristem
The plant cells in the meristem is well-organized and
show distinct nuclei, and some even show the nucleoli in the
nuclei.

Data
Description
200x
The plant cells are organized like
human's healthy teeth. Most of them have nuclei, but
a few cells in the image don't have the nuclei.
400x
Some nuclei in the picture appear
to have nucleoli inside of them.
Various Mitosis Stages
There are examples of all five stages of cell
reproduction - interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase,
and telophase - on this slide. For more details of
cell reproduction, see
Mitosis-Onion Root Tip sample.

Description
1000x
Two separated nucleoli in a nucleus
represent interphase stage of mitosis.
1000x
Broken chromosome
and invisible nucleoli represent prophase.
1000x
In metaphase, chromosomes are
aligned at the center of the cell.
1000x
The chromosomes at the poles of the
plant cell represent anaphase.
1000x
Two nuclei in one cell seem like
the cell is at the middle of telophase.
